About
I am a Consultant Haematologist at a major tertiary teaching hospital, providing independent expert witness services across a broad range of haematological conditions, including thrombosis, anticoagulation, sickle cell disease, thalassaemia, transfusion medicine, and haematological malignancies.

Availability & Timescales
Initial Case Discussion
I am available for an initial telephone discussion with instructing solicitors to consider the suitability of a case, clarify the key medico-legal issues, and advise on the appropriate scope of expert input prior to formal instruction.
This allows early, efficient assessment prior to formal instruction.
Current NHS Consultant Haematologist at a major tertiary teaching hospital, managing complex and high-risk cases across malignant and non-malignant haematology.
Regularly involved in Serious Adverse Event reviews, Root Cause Analysis, and complaints investigations, assessing clinical decision-making and system factors. Chair of the Sector Thrombosis Committee & MDT and lead author of regional haemostasis and thrombosis guidelines, with insight into the application of clinical standards in practice.
Reports are logically structured, focused on key medico-legal issues, and written clearly for legal professionals.

Pre-Instruction Review
Availability & Response

Assessment of venous and arterial thrombotic events, including deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism and stroke. Expertise in anticoagulation management (e.g. warfarin, DOACs, heparin), including dosing, monitoring, peri-operative management, and complications such as bleeding or treatment failure.
Diagnosis and management of inherited and acquired bleeding disorders, including haemophilia and von Willebrand disease. Cases may involve delayed diagnosis, inadequate prophylaxis, peri-procedural management, or complications of factor replacement therapies.
Management of conditions such as sickle cell disease and thalassaemia. Includes assessment of acute complications (e.g. vaso-occlusive crises, acute chest syndrome), chronic disease management, transfusion strategies, and delays in recognition or treatment.
Evaluation of blood transfusion practice, including indications, compatibility testing, administration, and management of transfusion reactions. Relevant cases include transfusion errors, delays in transfusion, and failure to recognise complications.
Diagnosis and management of blood cancers, including multiple myeloma, acute and chronic leukaemias, and lymphomas. Cases may involve delayed diagnosis, treatment decisions, complications of therapy, or monitoring and relapse.
Interpretation of blood tests, blood films, and laboratory investigations. Includes cases involving diagnostic delay, misinterpretation of results, or failure to appropriately investigate abnormal findings.
I hold specialist accreditation in haematology and a strong academic background spanning medicine, mathematics, and physics, supporting a rigorous and analytical approach to complex clinical assessment.
I have authored peer-reviewed publications in leading haematology journals, reflecting a strong academic foundation and commitment to evidence-based practice.
I have also authored local clinical management guidelines in haemostasis and thrombosis, including thrombophilia testing, supporting evidence-based practice and definition of appropriate standards of care.
